This locus represents naturally occurring readthrough transcription between the neighboring Rbm14 (RNA binding motif protein 14) and Rbm4 (RNA binding motif protein 4) genes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, some of which encode fusion proteins that share sequence identity with each individual gene product. A slight modification was made to the summary, since not all variants are protein coding [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2018]
