Aldoc, aldolase C, fructose-bisphosphate

  • This gene encodes a member of the aldolase family of enzymes that is mainly expressed in neuronal tissues. The encoded protein is an enzyme of the glycolysis pathway, and catalyzes the conversion of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. Alternate splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]
