Lumit® Technology: Fast and Easy Immunodetection
Discover Lumit® Technology, a bioluminescence-based immunodetection system offering fast, sensitive, and accurate immunoassays for research and clinical applications.
What is Lumit® Technology?
Lumit® Technology is an advanced bioluminescence-based detection system designed to simplify immunoassay workflows while delivering fast, sensitive, and accurate results. It is based on NanoLuc® Luciferase structural complementation technology, enabling high-performance immunoassays for both research and clinical applications.
How Does Lumit® Technology Work?
Lumit® Immunoassays utilize split-luciferase technology, in which analyte sensors (e.g., antibodies, antigens, binding proteins) are chemically labeled with two luciferase subunits:
- Small bit (SmBiT)
- Large bit (LgBiT)
When the sensors bind to the target analyte, SmBiT and LgBiT come into close proximity, forming an active luciferase enzyme. Upon the addition of detection reagents, this enzyme generates a luminescent signal, enabling highly sensitive detection.

Benefits of Lumit® Immunoassays
- No wash steps: Reduces variability and simplifies workflow.
- Faster results: Produces data in a fraction of the time.
- Higher sensitivity: Detects low-abundance targets with minimal background noise.
- Easily automated: Ideal for high-throughput labs processing large sample volumes.
Flexible Assay Formats
Lumit® Technology supports multiple assay configurations to meet diverse experimental needs:
Direct Detection: Primary antibodies labeled with SmBiT and LgBiT bind directly to the target analyte.

Indirect Detection: Secondary antibodies are labeled with SmBiT and LgBiT. Allows flexibility for assay development. (e.g., Lumit® Immunoassay Cellular Systems)
Competitive Binding: Requires antibody and tracer labeling. Suitable for small molecule detection and other specialized applications (e.g., Lumit® FcRn Binding Immunoassay).
