Efficient DNA Extraction from Various Water Samples

The Maxwell® RSC PureWater Kit, used with the Maxwell® RSC or Maxwell® RSC 48 Instrument, is expertly designed for the efficient extraction of DNA from a broad range of water samples, including water from cooling towers, potable water, and hot- and cold- water systems. This extraction kit works effectively with both unconcentrated suspension samples and concentrated samples collected on filters.

The Maxwell® RSC Instrument can process from 1 to 16 samples, and the Maxwell® RSC 48 Instrument can process from 1 to 48 samples in a single run. The Maxwell® Instruments are supplied with preprogrammed purification procedures and are designed for use with the predispensed reagent cartridges provided in the Maxwell® RSC PureWater Kit.

The Maxwell® RSC PureWater Kit, used with the Maxwell® RSC or Maxwell® RSC 48 Instrument, consistently extracts Gram-positive bacterial DNA from different types of water samples. DNA was extracted from 104CFU/ml live Listeria innocua in 200µl suspension samples (Panel A) or 103CFU/ml live Listeria innocua in 100ml of PBS that was collected onto a filter (Panel B) and purified using the Maxwell® RSC PureWater Kit. DNA eluates were assessed using GoTaq® qPCR Master Mix (Cat.# A6001) with primers specific for Listeria. Data represent purification replicates (N = 3); error bars represent standard deviation.
