Calculating Nucleic Acid or Protein Concentration Using the GloMax®-Multi+ Microplate Instrument
Abstract
Direct measurements of nucleic acid samples at OD260 or protein samples at OD280 can be converted to concentration using the Beer-Lambert law which relates absorbance to concentration using the pathlength of the measurement and an extinction coefficient. This application note discusses the relationship between these two variables and provides protocols quantifying proteins and nucleic acids.
